This Privacy Policy describes how Whisperloop ("the app", "we") handles your information. Whisperloop does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location, and there is nothing to sign up for. It does, however, send the affirmations you write to our servers so it can generate audio for them, and it identifies your device with an anonymous number. If you choose to, it can also record your voice so your whispers can be spoken in it. This page explains exactly what that means.
Whisperloop does not require an account. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location, and we do not have any way to find out who you are.
The first time you use the app, our server issues it an anonymous identifier - a number such as a2913. It is stored on your device and sent with your requests so that the whispers and audio you generate are kept together and are not mixed up with anyone else's.
This identifier is not derived from your device's hardware, advertising ID or any personal detail. It is not linked to your identity, and we cannot use it to work out who you are. It is, however, a persistent identifier, and it stays the same until you uninstall the app or clear its data. You can see the one assigned to you under Profile → Information → Account ID.
When you create a whisper, its title and affirmations are sent to our servers. We need this to generate the affirmations with a language model and to turn them into audio with a text-to-speech service. The resulting audio files are stored on our servers so the app can play and re-download them.
Your whispers are also stored on your device, and that copy is what the app uses day to day. The text you write is not used to advertise to you and is not sold or shared with anyone beyond the processing described here.
Voice Clone is optional, and it is off until you start it yourself from Profile → Voice Clone. Nothing is recorded unless you press the record button, and the app never listens in the background or at any other time.
If you use it, the recording is sent to our servers and passed on to DeepInfra, the provider that builds a voice model from it so your whispers can be generated in your voice. Your voice is never used to advertise to you, and it is not sold or shared with anyone beyond the processing described here. DeepInfra does not use it to train their own models.
We do not store your voice neither on the app nor on our own servers. We only save a hash that the provider, DeepInfra, uses to identify your voice record.
You can stop using your voice at any time from Profile → Voice Clone → "Remove my voice". Whispers you had already generated keep working, because they are finished audio files and no longer need the voice model.
The text you write and, if you record one, your voice sample are processed by these providers on our behalf, and only to provide the functions described above:
Our servers and the storage holding your audio are located in the United States, and the providers listed above process data there as well. If you use Whisperloop from outside the United States, the text you write and, if you record one, your voice sample are transferred there to be processed.
Whisperloop contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software of any kind. We do not measure which screens you open or how long you use the app, and there are no third-party trackers embedded in it.
If you have Android's backup feature enabled, your device may copy the app's settings and your saved whispers to your own Google account. That backup belongs to you and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy; we have no access to it.
Whisperloop asks for permission to show notifications, and only when you turn on lock-screen playback controls yourself. It is used to display the player while audio is playing, and for nothing else.
It asks for the microphone only when you start Voice Clone, and uses it only while you are recording your voice for that feature. If you never use Voice Clone, you are never asked. The app requests no other permission that involves your data.
Deleting a whisper inside the app removes it from your device immediately and completely, and deletes it from our servers. The same is true of removing your voice - the app stops using it and our server removes it, but the voice model and its reference sample remain at DeepInfra.
Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device. What you generated - and your voice model, if you made one - stays on our side, associated only with your anonymous identifier; because that identifier lives on your device, uninstalling means neither you nor we can link any of it back to you afterwards.
Whisperloop is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
